Nikhil Honkalas is an multi-talented artist. He is a composer, a flutist and also plays the mouth organ. He excels at playing the flute and Bansuri. Nikhil started playing the flute as a teenager and it has been his best companion ever since. He enjoys exploring different genres of music and has played with many rock bands too. He has formed his own band called Back to Track which specializes in performing instrumental compositions. The band believes music is one of the few things that cuts across artificial differences of race, language, religion, culture and nationality in this world. Music shows us that deep inside, we all share the same dreams, hopes and desires. Back to Track was formed in November 2015. It is a 4 piece band from Mumbai. The band performs Indian melodies infused with a funky groove, layered with overtones of distortion. Back to Track specializes is playing non vocal, instrumental covers. The band's vision is to give a new face to world music cinema (video ) and the members are working hard towards achieving this dream.
“I reached Vashi station tired and worn out from the days work, to see a crowd formed around a man, went to investigate, and I saw a man performing a song which sounded like Sufi music to me. His voice echoed through the granite corridors of the station and the merry strums of his guitar filled the air with melancholy. I stood there hearing his song about finding God in ones own belief, reminded me of Kabir ke Dohe which i had read when i was a kid.”
