Playlist of the Week – Saying I Love You

Friday, February 7th, 2020

It’s not always easy to find the right words to say just how we feel. That’s why we love music. There’s a song for every shade of emotion you could be feeling, for every thought you might wish to convey, to share in whatever you are going through. It’s magic, isn’t it? And when you need to show that special someone how you feel about them, finding the right song to dedicate makes it that much easier to convey what’s in your heart. Here’s a list of tracks to help you tell your story a little bit better.

1. I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston

It’s not just the lyrics with this song that make it special. The rise of emotion that builds with the song’s progression is perfect to show that your love won’t diminish, but rather grow stronger and bolder with each passing day.

2. Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran

If there was ever a song version to the age-old thought of “I want to grow old with you”, this would have to be it. The song tells a story, and reminds us that while each of our love stories are different, the underlying hope to live out our lives together is ever eternal and common, and all the more special because of it.

3. A Thousand Years by Christina Perry

Want to say that your love is gonna last forever? There isn’t a more perfect song than this one for that. Because your love existed long before you did, and will continue to do so long after you’re gone.

A Thousand Years

4. Unchained Melody by Righteous Brothers

Arguably one of the most romantic songs out there, you can’t possibly go wrong with this one. It even worked for Patrick Swayze, and he was a ghost.

5. My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion

The eternal love song for an entire generation, this song is the epitome of romance and ever-lasting love. There is really not much more to be said, is there?

DIY of the Week – Jar of Love Notes

Wednesday, February 13th, 2019

Tis the season of love, and as such, how can we not take part! This week’s DIY is all about putting thought and effort into making your significant other feel special and loved. And the best part about it? It’s especially perfect for those of who forgot that it’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow and need to put together a romantic gift on the fly! Why? Because you can keep jotting notes all throughout the day, and just decorate a mason jar once home and you’re done! So let’s get started

What You Need:

1. Mason Jar

2. Strips of paper (colored paper works best, but plain is fine too)

3. A few colored pens

4. Paint and paintbrush, or sharpies, to decorate the mason jar

5. Ribbon

What To Do:

Step 1

If you don’t have paper strips, cut regular size A4 paper into strips (If you have a paper slicer, this will be really quick work).

Step 2

Jot down a different reason why you love your partner on each strip. Do as many of these as you possibly can. And no reason is too small or silly. Remember, this is about the two of you. Everything from they way their hair smells after a shampoo, to their bad off-tune singing, to how they watch your favourite sport with you (even though they hate it), counts!

Step 3

Fold the paper strips into little chits. And remember, try to make as many as you can! Even the smallest of reasons, and silliest of reasons, is a reason.

Step 4

Decorate the mason jar. You can paint it over with designs, or keep it plain with a label reading “Reasons Why I Love You”. Finish off with a ribbon along the neck, pop in all the chits of reasons, and close it off.

While this is simple to assemble, the thought you put into each of those notes is what will be the real gift, and a truly thoughtful one. Don’t be surprised if you get a few happy tears in response! (We’ll agree to blame it on onions).

Happy Valentine’s Day!
