Living in a society that is constantly telling us what is wrong with us can be tough on everyone. So every now and then, we need a little reminder that we are great just the way we are, and that our differences are actually what make us special, and the world a truly great place.
So this week’s playlist is all about reminding us that we’re great just the way we are, and our individuality matters.
1. Born This Way – Lady Gaga
The ultimate song that tells you to be proud no matter who you are, no matter what your background, race, color, or gender. It’s who you are, so not only should you accept it, you should be proud of it too.
2. Scars to Your Beautiful – Alessia Cara
Harming ourselves to look ‘pretty’ is never a good idea, and Alessia’s song became an instant hit purely because it resonated with so many youngsters fighting body image issues.
3. Who Says – Selena Gomez & The Scene
The then teen pop idol posed a very important question asking who exactly says that you aren’t beautiful exactly as you are. Her je-ne-sais-quoi attitude is meant to inspire everyone to shed their fears and own who they are, regardless of what anyone else says.
4. Most Girls – Hailee Steinfeld
Though the title suggests otherwise, the song is actually an anthem that not only praises every girl for her differences, but also tells them to cherish those differences and celebrate them with others.
5. Who You Are – Jessie J
While Jessie herself epitomizes the strong, confident woman, her song is quick to remind everyone that everyone is struggling and that we should all try our hardest to be true to ourselves, and in there lies our beauty.
Here’s to you feeling happy and confident in yourself, not only because the mirror tells you so, but because your soul does too!
Have a great week!
