DIY of the Week – Folded Corner Bookmarks

Whether you love going out in the monsoon season or not, you have to admit, it is absolutely the perfect weather for staying in, curling up in your favorite chair with a hot cuppa and a great book! To honor that, we’ll be dedicated the DIY projects this month to making the perfect bookmarks for our favorite books.

We’re kicking of the first DIY of September with these lovely (and incredibly easy to make) folded bookmarks, that you just need to stick on the corner of the page you take a break on.

What you need:

1. Origami colored paper (regular paper or chart paper can be used to, if you so wish)

2. Ruler

3. Scissors

4. Markers / paints

What to do:

Step 1

Measure and mark a 6 x 6 inch piece of the paper and cut it.

Step 2

Fold the piece you have cut, following the steps shown in the figure below. Take your time, the first few times, as it can get a bit confusing.

Step 3

Take your markers or paint, or even other colored paper, and make your design, and there you go – your bookmark is ready!

The only limit to the kind of designs you can make or create is your own imagination. From animals, to superheros, to monsters, try a new one for each new book you read! P.s. they make great gifts for fellow readers too. Here are some photos for extra inspiration -

Special Bonus:

If you’re looking to try your hand at a different shape, you can try this heart-shaped bookmark too. Just take a paper of the color of your choice, and fold away!
