DIY of the Week – Upcycled Mobile Charger Holder (Method 2)

Monday, October 1st, 2018

And we’re back, as promised. Last week, we learned how to make an upcycled mobile charger holder from a plastic bottle. This week, we’re making one with the back pocket of your jeans! (Just maybe don’t try to wear them after the fact).

Not only does your charger no longer need to lie there on the floor while it charges, it also looks great while it charges. And now that old pair of jeans doesn’t need to hide in the back of your closet either, it can finally be put to work!

Step 2

Now you need to make a hangar. To do that, you need to cut the side seam section of the leg of the jeans.

Step 3

Sew the hanger section into the pocket, and your charger holder is now complete.

Now all you need to do is stick your phone into the pocket, connect that charger, and hang it over the charger head.

Hope you like your swanky new charger holder.

DIY of the Week – Upcycled Mobile Charger Holder (Method 1)

Monday, September 24th, 2018

Isn’t it an awkward struggle to hunt for a table or some other such surface near a plug point every time you want to charge your phone? You can’t possibly leave your phone just hanging off the charger wire, can you? Well, of course not. But instead of constantly searching for supporting furniture, wouldn’t it be great if your charger itself could hold your mobile up? Ah yes, the stuff dreams are made of.

But wait. What if we told you that not only was it possible, it was also completely doable from upcycling stuff you probably have lying around the house? Don’t believe us? Too good to be true? No, no. We’re very serious. This week’s DIY (and next week’s too) is on how to make a mobile charger holder meant to hang on to your phone while it charges. The first method, which we’re doing this week, show’s you how to do from a regular plastic shampoo or bath wash bottle. And it’s super simple too!

Method 1 – Plastic Shampoo Bottle

What you need:

1. Old, wide plastic bottle (shampoo or large hand wash works fine)

2. Scissors

3. Marker

4. Washi tape (or whatever other method you want to use to decorate it)

What to do:

Step 1

Take the selected bottle and remove the sticker from both sides, then ensure that it is completely washed and dried out.

Step 2

Take the marker and create a horizontal line across the width of the bottle about three-fourths of the way up the bottle. Then, create an extra handle-like protrusion on one of the wider sides, above the line you just drew.

Step 3

Take your scissors and carefully cut along the line you just drew. Now placing your charger base against the extra protrusion, mark out its size. Cut along (from the inside) of this section.

Step 4

All that’s left now is to cover the bottle with washi tape (or wrapping paper, or colored paper, paint, markers, or whichever way you want to decorate it). And there you have it! You’re all set with your brand new mobile charger holder.
